Some of us are developers. Some are designers. Some have careers that have nothing to do with technology and still end up building apps at 2am because an idea wouldn't let go.
Every project starts with curiosity and ends with more knowledge than we had when we began. Sometimes that produces a useful app. Sometimes it produces a prototype that quietly gets buried in a folder called "maybe someday."
